First Reunion

The first-ever reunion meeting of the association was held at Canewood Hotel, Warri—about 36 people were in attendance.

During the build-up to this meeting, we paid a visit to our Alma Mata ( they had just experienced severe flooding), so students had all vacated the premises and were sent home. The videos and pictures of the devastating effect of the flood were shared during the meeting.

It was a lovely weekend of socialising and brainstorming with old girls from all over the country who took the time to attend.

We resolved to;

  • Register our association with the cooperate affairs commission, and one of us, Barr. Constance Ekwuyasi volunteered to follow up on our behalf.
  • Open a bank account for the association
  • Have Zonal meetings weekly via WhatsApp
  • Have a physical team building meeting once a month
  • Pay monthly dues of 1000 into the national purse Pay monthly dues of 500 into the zonal purse
  • Have an interim national and zonal executive structure
  • Have reunions once in 2 years, during which we will have elections
  • Do one project for the school every year
  • Support and attend member’s events if invited at least one month in advance
  • Agreement on the association’s structure was made, with five zones created to cater to members residing in different parts of the country/world.

Noteworthy donations

Voke Owarietta Urhibo helped secure the venue of our first-ever reunion for free from her Dad, who not only gave us a free hall but also gave us heavily discounted room rates in the hotel for guests

The sum of a Hundred thousand Naira was made by Kevwe Okparanyote Feyita towards projects for the school.

All those who took out time to attend the first-ever reunion. They donated money, and their time and offered expertise on various topics discussed.

The event was covered by Delta Broadcasting Television (DBS).

Sadly this has been our only reunion as an association to date. Do you think we are due for a reunion? Drop your comments below.

In our next post, you will learn about individuals and sets who have distinguished themselves in service to the association. Stay tuned.
